Care as currency

Home Pound is a hyperlocal complementary currency that explores the flexible ontology and social nature of money. It initiates interactions between women asylum seekers and local women residents in communities in the UK. Home Pound aims to reduce a deficit of social relations that women asylum seekers experience due to restricted access to the labour market and other gender-related barriers. It is a currency with care as capital, where people exchange time, skills, assistance, friendship and other values that can make asylum seekers 'feel at home.'
